Certificate of College and University Teaching (for PhD students)

PhD students at UCSB have the option to add a Certificate of College and University Teaching to their degree. This certificate will be conferred at the time of graduation, and as of 2026, the program has 5 requirements:

1. TA for two quarters, complete all required TA training, and complete a video taping and consultation by the Office of Teaching and Learning
2. Take a CCUT-approved course or program in teaching and pedagogy
3. Complete an evidence-based teaching project (resulting in a 6-8 page paper or a multimedia presentation)
4. Teach a course as Instructor of Record
5. Complete your CCUT Portfolio
